As long as it can touch the metal clamp, the positive power supply can be connected. Then the spark plug can touch the socket to connect the negative power supply. Maybe the spark plug is tilted, but this does not affect the test. (c) The clamp on the base supplies positive power. And the socket supplies negative power.
